Schenectady Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) Web Site and related Internet resources Acceptable Use Policy

Introduction

The Schenectady Chapter maintains a web site and related Internet resources, including e-mail list, for the purpose of conducting official Schenectady Chapter business and furthering the mission of the Schenectady Chapter, hereafter known as the Chapter.

Principles of Acceptable Use

• To use the web site and related Internet resources only for conducting Chapter business and furthering the mission of the Chapter.
• To respect the privacy of other Chapter members; for example, members shall not intentionally seek information on, obtain copies of, or modify files or data belonging to other members or the Chapter, unless explicit permission to do so has been obtained.
• To respect the integrity of computing systems: for example, members shall not use or develop programs that harass other members or infiltrate a computer or computing system.
• To report any unacceptable use.

Unacceptable Use

It is not acceptable to use the Chapter web site and related Internet resources:

• For activities unrelated to the Chapter’s mission;
• For activities unrelated to official Chapter assignments and or Chapter responsibilities;
• For any illegal purpose;
• To transmit threatening, obscene or harassing materials or correspondence;
• For unauthorized distribution of Chapter data or information;
• For private purposes such as marketing or business transaction;
• For solicitation of funds for any cause;
• For private advertising of products or services; and
• For any activity meant to foster personal gain.

The Chapter shall not be held responsible for any misuse or misinformation. The Chapter reserves the right to change these policies at any time.

Enforcement and Violations

This policy is intended to be illustrative of the range of acceptable and unacceptable uses of the chapter web site and related Internet resources and is not necessarily exhaustive. Questions regarding appropriate use should be directed to the chapter Webmaster via e-mail. As needed, the Webmaster will review issues with the Chapter board.

The Chapter will review alleged violations of the Web Site and Related Internet Resources Use Policy on a case-by-case basis. Violations of the policy could result in removal of the individual from any chapter Internet resources, such as our e-mail list.

All users of the Chapter web site and related Internet resources are responsible for understanding and complying with this Policy, in spirit and in practice.
