White Water Paddling
Interested in Canoeing or kayaking? Need help getting started or others to paddle with? The Schenectady ADK has a great group of like minded folks who have amassed a wealth of knowledge of paddling and of the rivers both near and far. Check out the schedule and find the rivers and activities that match your interest and give the designated leader a call. We have rolling clinics, safety clinics, skills workshops,
surfing and just plain river running fun! Do you want to learn how to paddle white water? Call Larry Woods (271-0270) for canoe or Ralph Pascale (235-1614) for kayak. We can help you get started.
Winter Pool SessionsThere will be open boating and we will be offering classes in: Basic Strokes for Kayaking, Kayak Rolling and Freestyle/Play-Boating during January and February. Please check the Schedule or contact Ralph Pascale at rpascale@spendwood.com.White Water PaddlingLifejackets are required on all paddling trips. Dress appropriately for weather conditions. All trip leaders will screen prospective paddlers to be sure equipment and experience are appropriate for the trip. Misrepresentation or over estimation of skills is a common cause of whitewater accidents. Paddling skill should allow each boat to confidently eddy out regularly, thereby keeping the group together and allowing members to keep an eye out for each other.
