Young Members Group

The Schenectady Chapter's Young Members Group (YMG) is geared toward young adults in their 20s and 30s, as well as the young at heart, who share a love for the outdoors and support ADK's mission.

You can participate in a variety of activities, including:
  • Hiking
  • Backpacking
  • Cycling
  • Snowshoeing
  • Cross country skiing
  • Nature walks in local preserves
  • Flat water paddling
  • Trail work days
  • Kid-friendly outings
  • Social activities & more!
Take part in outings for all fitness levels and interests and have the opportunity to learn and improve your skills along the way, no matter where you're starting from.

Whether it's an e
asy walk in the woods to enjoy the scenery and socialize, or challenging yourself in the high peaks and beyond, you can do it with ADK. If you’re looking to hike all the fire tower mountains, become an Adirondack 46er, gain more experience on the trails/water, make new friends, or get and stay in shape, ADK can help you get there!

Not sure about hitting the trail yet? Come to a social event and meet current members, get to know ADK, ask questions and learn about gear, and share your ideas for future outings!

See upcoming chapter outings on our Outings and Whitewater pages!

Want to volunteer? Current YMG opportunities include:
  • YM Outings Leader: Plan and lead outdoor recreational outings or social activities for young adults & families. Outings can range from beginner & kid-friendly to advanced, to offer something for everyone, and ADK will teach you what you need to know. Email outings@adk-schenectady.org for more information.
  • Young Members Chair: Take the lead in running the Young Members Group by working with the chapter’s executive committee & outings leaders, being a liaison for members, and perhaps leading outings of your own. Email chair@adk-schenectady.org if you’re interested!
*Volunteers must be ADK members*
